Sue’s Experience

What were you struggling with before you first reached out to me? What made you decide to request support?
I didn’t reach out to you. You reached out to me and offered me a chance to practice your shamanic skills; and as you know, I am willing to try almost anything!

How have I helped you most?
The greatest help you have given me is teaching me how to connect with my buried emotions–to experience them and process them so that they can leave.

What has transformed within you as a result of our work together?
So many things have improved for me. I express all the emotions now without editing them. I have learned to love and accept myself as I am right now without conditions. This process has been evolving for 5 years now, but changes were happening in the first year. The whole process of evolving to my authentic self has been sometimes easy, often challenging; sometimes effortless, but sometimes involving vulnerability and risk-taking; sometimes emotionally painful, but always hopeful and rewarding.

What specifically can you point to in your life that has changed/unfolded as a result of our work together?
I have come to believe in myself in ways that I could have never imagined. I make life choices now that I could not have made five years ago. I am emotionally open in my relationships with people. I speak my truth without worrying about how it will be received. I now view the world as a place of possibility instead of something to hide from. I live a much richer existence because of the work we have done together.

One unexpected result from our work together was …
I have changed the nature of my relationship with my mother. I have learned to establish boundaries with her and to speak up for myself after a lifetime trying to protect myself from her.

Your favorite part of working with me is:
Your patience and silence. You are not compelled to fill the air with words. You understand the power of giving people time and space to experience their emotions in a non-judgmental environment. You are not afraid to wait for the silence to encourage people to open up and share their thoughts and emotions. When they do, you support them.

What’s next for you….how are you wanting to grow even more now?
At this moment, I am still working on the emotions and patterns that underlie my use of food as a comfort. Also, I want to continue work on connecting to the spiritual part of me, especially using my meditation practice.

Is there anything else you’d like to add that feels important to share with someone who is considering working with me?
Yes–Penny is awesome!!
